American Revolutionary War era "1776" dated wood canteen. Named at top (illegible, "Canteen 1776 Nov. 4" painted at the bottom - the date the Declaration of Independence gained its final signature from Matthew Thornton, a delegate from New Hampshire. Possibly a piece painted at the finalization of the Declaration to serve as a souvenir of the momentous day. Original surface.
